RoSPA Health & Safety Awards: Renewable Energy
The esteemed RoSPA Awards program now celebrates its 68th year as the UK’s largest and most impactful health and safety programme. With almost 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries, impacting over seven million employees, they offer a platform to spotlight an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in health and safety. GENeco won a Highly Commended Award in the Renewable Energy category, demonstrating its dedication to ensuring its staff, customers and contractors get home safely at the end of every working day.
RoSPA Health & Safety Awards: Renewable Energy
Granted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK. The programme recognises organisations’ commitment to continuous improvement in the prevention of accidents and ill health at work, looking at entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. GENeco has received Gold (Highly Commended) 1st-3rd in the Renewable Energy category.
Awards for Excellence 2018: Recycling Facility of the Year
The awards, organised by letsrecycle.com , celebrate the achievements of companies and local authorities in the fields of recycling, reuse and waste reduction. GENeco was recognised for its zero waste to landfill approach to recycling sewage sludge, food waste and biodegradable waste.
Rushlight Awards 2018: Organic Resource Award
The Rushlight Awards support and promote clean technologies for businesses and other organisations throughout UK and internationally. GENeco won the Organic Resource Award for its innovative Bio-Bee initiative, a food waste collection vehicle which is powered by the waste it collects.
West of England Green 50: Outstanding Recognition Award
The Green 50 is a list of companies that recognises businesses or organisations based in the West of England region who are doing something to help save our planet. We were recipients of an Outstanding Recognition Award, the judges highlighting our work in developing the local circular economy.
Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Global Awards: Sustainability
The IChemE Global Awards celebrate excellence in chemical, biochemical and process engineering from across the world. GENeco was named the winner of the Sustainability Award with its entry titled "Building an Innovative Renewable Energy Ecosystem" which showcased the transformation of its main site, Bristol Sewage Treatment Works, into a resource and energy factory, converting wastes into green electricity, gas and vehicle fuel.
Bristol Post Business Awards 2017: Environmental Business of the Year
The Bristol Business Awards celebrates new talent, and shares the success of established Bristol firms and business people. The Environmental Business of the Year title highlights GENeco's contribution to the circular economy in the city.
British Renewable Energy Awards 2017: Sustainability
The British Renewable Energy Awards recognises and celebrates the achievements of companies and individuals who have done something amazing in renewables or clean tech. GENeco won the 'Sustainability' category for its zero waste composting operation.
Sustainable City Awards 2016: Sir Peter Parker Award for Business Leadership
This award was given to us for demonstrating leadership in sustainability and is chosen from the winners and highly commended entries throughout the Sustainable Cities Awards. The judges said we were "re-writing the rule book on both waste management and sustainable travel."
Sustainable City Awards 2016: Responsible Waste
The Sustainable City Awards are given to organisations which have demonstrated excellence in sustainable development. Recognition in this category was for "helping their customers become more sustainable and reduce, if not eliminate, their dependence on landfill."

National Recycling Awards 2015: Resource Management
These awards celebrate the achievements of the best companies in the waste and resources sector. We were given the title of Resource Management Business of the Year due to our work putting the circular economy into practice.
LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards 2015: Low Carbon Road Transport Initiative of the Year
The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership commends to cutting emissions, both of greenhouse gases and local pollutants, associated with transport. The Bio-Bus was crowed the Road Transport Initiative of the Year for its work in highlighting the possibilities for low emission public transport.
Guardian Sustainable Business Awards 2015: Waste Impact
These prestigious awards highlight innovative businesses and those that have created a positive impact in becoming more sustainable. We were celebrated for our gas to grid project, which found a way of incorporating day-to-day organic waste into our energy supply cycle.
Utility Week Stars 2015: Best Operational Team
The Utility Week Stars Awards celebrate the unsung heroes of the utilities sector. Our operations team, based at our main site in Bristol, were worthy winners of this impressive title thanks to their year-round dedication and commitment to ensuring all our treatment works remain compliant and efficient.
British Renewable Energy Awards 2015: Sustainability
Run by the Renewable Energy Association, these awards seek to recognise and celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals who have made a significant difference within the renewable energy industry. We were crowned winners in 2015 for the Bio-Bus project.
