Global award success
GENeco's pioneering technical practices have been recognised as 'best in field' at the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Global Awards.
At the ceremony in Birmingham held on 2 November 2017, GENeco was crowned the winner of the Sustainability Award with its entry titled “Building an Innovative Renewable Energy Ecosystem”.
The submission showcased the transformation of its main site, Bristol Sewage Treatment Works, into a resource and energy factory, converting wastes into green electricity, gas and vehicle fuel. The award recognised that the company’s engineering excellence has created a unique renewable energy and resource ecosystem, fully embedded with the principles of the circular economy.
The IChemE Global Awards celebrate excellence in chemical, biochemical and process engineering from across the world. GENeco emerged a winner against finalists from the UK, Belgium, Malaysia, US, Singapore, UAE and Canada.
Chemical engineer, Wesley Wong, said: “We are extremely proud that GENeco’s ground-breaking work has been recognised on the international stage.”
“This has been achieved by optimising each plant’s performance through real-time monitoring. In doing so, we are able to use resources and energy to their fullest potential.”
GENeco’s entry was also highly commended in the Energy category.
